Stats
Bio
Recruited from Oakleigh Juniors, Ern Rowarth was a physically imposing ruckman who stood 185cm and weighed over 90kg—a giant frame for the era. The cousin of future Melbourne premiership star Alan Rowarth, Ern made his senior debut in 1945 and produced his most consistent football that season, playing 11 games despite battling an injury sustained in a heavy on-field fall. He struggled to retain his position as the Demons strengthened their list following the war, adding just nine more appearances over the next two years before being cleared from the club. Rowarth eventually continued his career in country Victoria, notably serving as captain-coach for Murtoa in the Wimmera Football League.
