Bio
Recruited from Cheltenham, Ern Trickey was a tall utility capable of holding down key positions or pinch-hitting in the forward line. He made his debut for Fitzroy in 1953, featuring sporadically over three seasons at the Brunswick Street Oval as he worked to establish a permanent spot in the Lions' lineup. After a brief hiatus from the VFL, Trickey crossed to the Lake Oval to join South Melbourne in 1957. His short stint with the Swans proved efficient in front of the big sticks, where he averaged a goal a game across four appearances before concluding his 16-game career at the top level.
