Bio
Ernest Cazaly is primarily remembered as the older brother of Australian football icon Roy "Up There" Cazaly, with his own career defined by a remarkable nine-year hiatus between appearances. Recruited from Leopold, he made his senior debut for St Kilda in 1910, playing a single match before dropping out of VFL football for nearly a decade. In a surprising twist, the 33-year-old was recalled to the senior lineup midway through the 1919 season to play his second and final game. This fleeting return granted him the rare distinction of taking the field alongside his superstar younger brother, who was in the midst of a Best and Fairest campaign for the Saints, securing Ernest a unique place in the club's folklore as more than just a statistical footnote.
