Bio
Recruited from Carlton District, Ernie "Snowy" Martin initially struggled to break into the senior lineup at Princes Park, managing just a handful of appearances across three seasons. He found his true footing after transferring to Coburg in the VFA, where he transformed into a genuine star, playing in back-to-back premierships and becoming the club's first-ever winner of the Recorder Cup (the association's best and fairest award) in 1927. His dominant VFA form earned him a second chance at VFL level with Essendon, where he was deployed primarily as a wingman. However, persistent knee injuries hampered his time at Windy Hill, restricting his output and eventually prompting a return to Coburg where his legacy remained strongest.
