Stats
Bio
Recruited from the amateur ranks via University Blues, Ernie Sheil was a medium-sized utility who could operate along the flanks or push forward. He broke into the Carlton senior side in 1929, debuting in Round 3, but found it difficult to cement a regular position within a competitive Blues lineup. After managing just seven appearances across two seasons, Sheil transferred to Hawthorn early in the 1930 season in search of greater opportunity. He debuted for the Mayblooms in Round 4, but his stint at the struggling club was short-lived, adding only five games to his career tally before departing the VFL scene at the end of the year.
