Bio
Born into Tigerland royalty as the son of former VFA captain Charlie 'Fishy' Taylor, Ernie Taylor arrived from local side Burnley and wasted no time etching his name into Richmond folklore. A strong, steady back pocket and half-back flanker who relied on composure rather than flash, he was thrust into the heat of finals football almost immediately, winning the 1920 premiership in just his fifth senior game. He secured a second flag the following year in only his 17th match, playing a crucial role in the club's back-to-back triumph before injuries began to hamper his output. Although he effectively retired after the 1924 season, his dedication to the cause saw him return for a handful of games when the squad was short on numbers, eventually transitioning into a long-serving committeeman and club Vice President.
