Bio
Hailing from Lauderdale, the same community club her father represented, Evie Ward is a premier prospect with the Tasmania Devils. A member of the Marsh AFLW National Academy, she captained the Devils in her top-age season and led by example. Her stellar 2026 campaign earned her the Talent League Girls Devil of the Year and Most Consistent awards. Ward also featured for the Allies at the National Championships, where the combined states side finished as runners-up. A highlight of her year came in a dominant game against the Calder Cannons, where she controlled the stoppages and was a clear best on ground.
Although holding an outside midfielder profile, Ward is a versatile utility who can seamlessly drop into defence. Scouts praise her extraction skills at the coalface, noting her ability to weave through traffic and free her arms for clean disposals. She covers the ground exceptionally well to link up play and initiate attacking transitions, though she is continuing to refine her pure midfield craft. As a National Academy member invited to the State Draft Combine, Ward is widely rated as a highly sought-after talent in this year's draft pool.
