Stats
Bio
Recruited from the Northern Knights with pick 59 in the 1995 National Draft, Ewan Thompson was a mid-sized utility who had to wait for his opportunity at Punt Road. After spending the entire 1996 season developing in the reserves, he finally broke into the senior side in Round 14, 1997 against Brisbane. He held his spot for a month of football, with his best performance coming in his second game where he gathered 14 disposals and kicked his solitary career goal. His brief stint in the seniors curiously coincided with the turbulent final weeks of the Robert Walls era; Thompson's fourth and final appearance was the Round 17 loss to Adelaide that ultimately led to Walls' resignation. He was unable to break back into the side under caretaker coach Jeff Gieschen and was delisted at the conclusion of the 1997 season.
