Bio
Recruited from the local elite pathway at Geelong College, Ewen Bumpstead was a handy forward who briefly broke into a strong Cats lineup during the late 1920s. He made an immediate impact at VFL level, debuting in the opening round of the 1929 season and booting two goals to help his side secure a win. Bumpstead proved accurate early in his career, hitting the scoreboard in his first three consecutive senior appearances, but found sustained opportunities difficult to come by in a Geelong squad destined for finals action. Unable to cement a regular spot in the 22, he added just two more games in 1930 before drifting out of the league, and he tragically passed away in 1954 at the age of 44.
