Bio
Recruited from the Sandringham Dragons with pick 6 in the 2019 National Draft, Fischer McAsey arrived at Adelaide as the club's highest-ever draft selection at the time. A tall utility capable of playing at either end of the ground but primarily developed as an intercepting key defender, he was thrust immediately into the senior side, playing 10 games during the disjointed 2020 season. However, he struggled to consolidate his place in the team over the following two years, battling form and personal challenges without adding to his game tally. Despite having time remaining on his contract, McAsey made the difficult decision to step away from the AFL in early 2023, citing a loss of passion for the elite environment and officially retiring at just 21 years of age.
