Bio
Recruited from the Sandringham Dragons with pick 11 in the 2012 Pre-Season Draft, Fletcher Roberts was a key defender who relied on structural discipline and intercept marking rather than raw athleticism to quell opposition forwards. While he struggled to command a permanent position in the Western Bulldogs' best 22 for much of his eight-season tenure, often oscillating between the VFL and AFL, his career is defined by his pivotal role during the club's historic 2016 campaign. Recalled to the senior side late in that season, Roberts played a crucial part in the Bulldogs' finals run, culminating in the Grand Final victory over Sydney where he helped nullify the Swans' potent tall timber. Despite earning a premiership medallion, opportunities remained limited in subsequent years as younger defenders emerged, and he was delisted at the conclusion of the 2019 season.
