Bio
Recruited from VFA club Brunswick, Frank Anderson arrived at Princes Park in 1934 and quickly established himself as a reliable and consistent performer for the Blues. While he initially started his career in the forward line, he found his true calling in defence, where his discipline and ability to read the play made him a cornerstone of the backline for a decade. His defensive efforts were instrumental during the club's golden run in the late 1930s, culminating in his role as a premiership player in the 1938 Grand Final victory over Collingwood.
Anderson's standing at Carlton was defined by his remarkable consistency, finishing runner-up in the club's Best and Fairest count on three separate occasions. His excellence was recognised beyond the club with selection for Victoria in 1941, highlighting his status as one of the premier defenders of his era. After 155 games in the navy blue, he departed the VFL in 1945 to take up a captain-coach role with Preston in the VFA, later extending his football journey as a coach in country Victoria.
