Stats
Bio
Recruited from Belgrave after earlier serving as a half-back and follower for Berwick, Frank Asling was a versatile utility who stood 183cm—a solid height for a key position player of the era. He broke into the powerful Collingwood lineup midway through 1934 and showed enough promise to be selected for the club's Semi Final loss to South Melbourne. Despite this high-pressure cameo, Asling struggled to cement a permanent spot at Victoria Park and was omitted from the list the following season, sparking a brief journeyman period. He crossed to Essendon in 1935 and subsequently to Hawthorn in 1936, but was unable to establish himself as a senior regular at either club, ultimately managing just 14 games across three teams in three years before serving in both the Army and RAAF during World War II.
