Stats
Bio
Recruited to Fitzroy in 1930 as a mature-age prospect from the Ovens and Murray Football League, Frank Beggs arrived at the Brunswick Street Oval as part of a significant recruitment drive that most famously included his West Albury teammate and future triple-Brownlow Medallist, Haydn Bunton. A premiership player with Albury in 1928 before crossing to West Albury the following year, Beggs was a solid ruckman who came south to test his mettle in the VFL alongside the heavily hyped Bunton. While his travelling companion went on to become an immortal of the game, Beggs found regular senior opportunities difficult to secure, managing just four appearances in the maroon and blue during the 1930 season. His brief stint at the top level remains an interesting footnote in the arrival of one of the sport's greatest legends.
