Bio
Recruited from East Brunswick after Carlton waived their residential claim on him, Frank Brew was a diminutive but electric wingman who became a fixture at the Lake Oval in the post-war era. Standing just 171cm, Brew relied on his blistering speed, elusiveness, and elite kicking skills to break lines, quickly establishing himself as a fan favourite for the Swans. He finished fourth in the club's 1950 best and fairest count, but his relationship with the administration soured during his prime when the committee controversially refused to clear him for captain-coaching roles at Deniliquin and later Port Fairy. After seven seasons of service, Brew eventually departed the VFL mid-1953 to join Brunswick, later forging a successful reputation as a country coach and serving for decades as the curator at Princes Park.
