Bio
Born in Orbost as the son of Victorian state politician James Cameron, Frank Cameron was a law student who featured in the final chapter of the University Football Club's VFL existence. He broke into the senior side in 1914, the club's last and arguably most difficult season, making eight appearances as the "Students" struggled to a winless finish before voluntarily withdrawing from the league. His football journey was abruptly halted by the outbreak of World War I, where he enlisted and served as a Lieutenant with the 46th Battalion, joining a generation of University players whose athletic primes were consumed by the conflict. Cameron returned to Australia to forge a successful long-term career as a solicitor in Shepparton, eventually passing away in 1986 as one of the very last surviving links to the defunct University club.
