Bio
Frank Comer was a mature-age recruit who arrived at South Melbourne via the Western Australian Goldfields. Born in the small Victorian town of Goornong, he forged his football reputation with Boulder City, a dominant force in the rugged Goldfields competition, before earning a VFL call-up at age 26. Comer made his debut in a victory over St Kilda at the Junction Oval in Round 5, 1912, but found it difficult to retain his spot in a competitive South lineup. He managed just two senior appearances in the red and white before his brief league career came to a close, eventually settling in Fitzroy where he lived until his death in 1948.
