Frank Connellan

Recruited from the local West Melbourne district, Frank Connellan arrived at Arden Street as a vital reinforcement for the Shinboners in the immediate post-war era. Standing a formidable 188cm, he was considered a giant among his contemporaries and utilised this height advantage to operate as a versatile ruckman and key position player. He wasted little time establishing himself in the senior lineup, proving to be a durable and consistent selection who missed very few matches across his two seasons at the club. While he demonstrated the ability to drift forward and hit the scoreboard, his VFL career was surprisingly brief, concluding after the 1947 season despite his regular standing in the side.
