Bio
Recruited from South Ballarat, Frank Davies was a handy forward pocket who fought his way into South Melbourne's formidable lineup during their golden era of the 1930s. While he proved himself capable of hitting the scoreboard, his career was defined by agonizing luck at the selection table. Davies played in the club's Preliminary Final victories in both 1934 and 1936, only to be devastatingly dropped for the Grand Final on both occasions. He did receive one opportunity on the biggest stage, booting two goals in the 1935 Grand Final loss to Collingwood, but often found himself on the fringe of a team packed with superstar talent.
