Stats
Bio
Hailing from the country township of Wallan, Frank Holmes was a mature-age recruit who was granted a surprisingly late opportunity at VFL level. He arrived at North Melbourne at the age of 30, an unusually advanced age for a debutant, as the club scrambled for competitive talent during the 1930 season. Holmes was selected for the opening round against Geelong but found the step up to the top level difficult in a side that was heavily outclassed and frequently on the receiving end of large defeats. He managed just three senior games in the royal blue and white without scoring a goal before drifting out of the league, leaving his mark primarily as a statistical curiosity regarding his age rather than his on-field exploits.
