Frank Hose

Frank Hose was a sturdy key position recruit who arrived at Geelong from local club Newtown & Chilwell during the transitional 1945 season. Standing 183cm and weighing 85kg, he possessed the physical dimensions required to hold down a key post in an era where such size was a premium asset. He featured in 14 senior games during that tumultuous post-war year, providing a reliable presence in a Geelong side that was rebuilding its list after the disruptions of the Second World War. Despite his solid frame and consistent selection throughout the bulk of the season, Hose did not register a goal, suggesting his duties were primarily confined to the defensive half or a disciplined rucking role. His VFL career was limited to that single campaign, after which he departed the top flight, leaving a brief but distinct mark as a local product who stepped up when the Cats needed reinforced stocks.
