Bio
A diminutive wingman and rover standing just 170cm, Frank Howard was recruited to Richmond from Wendouree in the Ballarat region. He made his senior debut in the opening round of the 1943 season, but his VFL career was almost immediately put on hold by the Second World War, during which he served in both the Army and the Navy. This significant interruption cost Howard the prime years of his athletic development, keeping him out of the league for five full seasons. He eventually returned to Punt Road in 1948 to play seven matches, adding a spark to the Tigers' midfield before departing to continue his football journey in the country leagues with Ballarat and Kerang.
