Bio
Recruited via a unique pathway from the Army Apprentice School and country side Poowong, Frank Kelly was a wingman who briefly broke into the powerful Richmond lineup during the 1971 season. Arriving at Punt Road during the height of the Tom Hafey era, Kelly faced the monumental task of cementing a spot in a squad destined for that year's premiership. He managed two senior appearances, starting on the bench as a reserve against Footscray and North Melbourne, but ultimately could not displace the club's established stars in a dominant Tigers midfield. Kelly departed the VFL to play for Prahran in the VFA before relocating to Queensland, where he became a key figure for Surfers Paradise while maintaining a long career in the Australian Army.
