Bio
Recruited from South Ballarat, Frank Lamont was a diminutive footballer who arrived at Fitzroy with a strong reputation after representing the combined Ballarat League. He made an immediate impact in the VFL, debuting in the opening round of 1911 against Melbourne where the press praised the 164cm debutant as a "star" who played "winning football" throughout the contest. Despite featuring regularly in his maiden season, his time at the top level was fleeting; he added just two games to his tally in 1912 before obtaining a clearance to return to South Ballarat midway through the year. Lamont later put his football ambitions aside to serve in the First World War, enlisting in 1915 and deploying overseas with the 4th Pioneer Battalion.
