Bio
Recruited from local club East Geelong, Frank McWilliams was a mature-age debutant who answered the call during one of the most difficult periods in the club's history. He joined the Cats in 1944, the year the team re-entered the VFL competition after a two-year recess caused by the Second World War. Standing just 168cm, McWilliams was a diminutive rover or small defender who was brought in to bolster a playing list decimated by wartime service. He made his senior debut at 28 years of age and managed six appearances during a brutal, winless campaign for the Hoops. While his tenure at the top level was brief, McWilliams played a necessary role in keeping the club afloat on the field before the Cats began their post-war rebuild.
