Bio
Born in Hotham West, Frank Melville was a local product who secured his place in club history as one of North Melbourne’s "Original Shinboners" upon their entry into the VFL in 1925. Assigned Shinboner #19, he missed the club's historic debut match but broke into the side in Round 2 against Fitzroy, playing five games in that foundation year. He spent three seasons out of the senior lineup before earning a recall in 1929, reinventing himself as a follower capable of beating defenders one-on-one and kicking long goals on the run. Melville eventually departed for Williamstown in 1930, leaving a legacy as a member of the pioneer squad that established the Kangaroos in the elite competition.
