Bio
Recruited from local side Chilwell, Frank Mockridge was a dependable defender who served Geelong primarily in the back pocket during a golden era for the club. His career narrative was defined by a mix of heartbreak and eventual, albeit unusual, triumph in September action. He was a regular contributor throughout the 1925 season but was heartbreakingly omitted from the Grand Final side that secured the club’s maiden VFL premiership. After battling on to play in the losing 1930 decider against Collingwood, Mockridge finally secured a premiership medallion in his last league match. Selected as the 19th man for the 1931 Grand Final against Richmond, he remained on the bench for the entire game as an unused reserve, retiring as a premiership player without stepping onto the field on the day.
