Bio
Arriving at Hawthorn with a prolific reputation, Frank Nolan was recruited from Caulfield in the Federal District League after booting a staggering 116 goals during the 1933 season. The medium-sized forward broke into the senior lineup midway through 1934, managing to kick a goal in each of his two appearances against heavyweights Collingwood and Essendon. Despite showing he could find the big sticks at the top level, Nolan spent the remainder of the year in the reserves before returning to his original club. He eventually found his footing in the VFA as a dangerous spearhead for Oakleigh, where he kicked 169 goals over four seasons, before serving with the Australian Army in New Guinea during World War II.
