Bio
Hailing from the historic gold-mining town of Chiltern in north-east Victoria, Frank Pearce was a defender who played for two VFL clubs during the Great Depression era. He broke into the Fitzroy side in 1929, spending three seasons with the Maroons as a dour backman who prioritised defensive accountability over attacking flair, failing to score a goal in his 21 games at the Brunswick Street Oval. Seeking a fresh start, Pearce crossed to North Melbourne in 1932 where he became a regular fixture in the Shinboners' backline for two seasons and finally booted his solitary career goal. His VFL journey concluded in 1933, but he later served his country in the Australian Army during World War II, joining the extensive list of North Melbourne players who swapped their guernseys for military uniforms.
