Bio
Recruited from the Ballarat Football Club, Frank Penney was a tall key position prospect who arrived at North Melbourne for the 1937 season. Standing 185cm—a significant height for the era—he offered a strong target in attack and the versatility to pinch-hit in the ruck division. He showed glimpses of his potential with seven goals in nine senior appearances, but his VFL career was ultimately limited to that solitary year at Arden Street. Penney later relocated to Western Australia, where he enlisted in the army from the coastal town of Geraldton during the Second World War, eventually living to the age of 95.
