Stats
Bio
Recruited from the Hawthorn Colts where he dominated as a junior with three consecutive competition best-and-fairests, Frank Ryan arrived at Punt Road as a promising talent in 1951. A lightly built wingman who relied on agility and movement rather than physical size, Ryan progressed rapidly from the thirds to make his senior debut in his first season at the club. While he became a regular fixture in the seniors with 62 games over seven years, his most tangible success came with the seconds, where he played a pivotal role in Richmond's 1954 and 1955 reserves premierships, notably being voted best-on-ground in the 1954 decider. He departed the VFL at just 25 years of age, continuing his football career with Burnley in the metropolitan leagues.
