Bio
Recruited from Windsor, Frank Scully was a skilled but combustible small forward and rover who packed a career's worth of headlines into just four seasons. He burst onto the scene in 1924, claiming St Kilda's Best First-Year Player award, but his time at the Junction Oval was frequently interrupted by disciplinary issues, most notably a severe eight-week suspension for a brawl with Geelong’s Ken Leahy. His tenure was further destabilised by a bizarre off-field court case involving the alleged theft of a tyre from a club vice-president's car, though he was ultimately acquitted of the charge. Despite proving himself as a dangerous goal-kicker who averaged better than a major a game, Scully’s turbulent VFL stint ended prematurely when he departed to coach Penshurst in western Victoria.
