Bio
Recruited from Canterbury, Frank Slade was a tall follower and defender who earned his opportunity with Collingwood at the start of the 1933 season. Standing 185cm, he possessed the size to play key roles in the ruck or down back and was selected for the opening two rounds against Geelong and Fitzroy. Despite this promising beginning, Slade was omitted after the second round and could not force his way back into a powerful Magpies lineup that went on to contest the Grand Final that year. He remained at Victoria Park as a depth player, making 17 appearances for the reserves between 1933 and 1936 before eventually moving on to play for Mordialloc.
