Bio
Recruited from Richmond City, Frank Staines brought a unique sporting pedigree to the Melbourne Football Club as a former lacrosse player. He earned his opportunity early in the 1898 season, debuting against Carlton in Round 2 and slotting into the forward line. Standing 173cm, Staines managed five senior appearances during the VFL's second year of competition but struggled to translate his skills into scoring impact, finishing his brief career without a goal. His stint at the top level ended after a Round 10 loss to Collingwood, and he eventually left Australian shores, later passing away in London.
