Bio
Recruited from Fawkner, Frank Stubbs was a commanding ruckman who anchored the North Melbourne pack during a formative era for the club. Standing a towering 192cm, he used his size and strength to establish himself as a premier follower, highlighted by his performance in 1940 where he finished as the Shinboners' leading vote-getter in the Brownlow Medal. His VFL career was significantly interrupted by military service during World War II, costing him three prime seasons between 1942 and 1944. Stubbs returned to Arden Street in 1945 to play a role in the club's historic first-ever VFL finals campaign before departing the league the following year. He subsequently cemented his status as a football great in the VFA with Camberwell, where he won three consecutive club champion awards and the 1950 J.J. Liston Trophy.
