Bio
Recruited from the local bayside club Parkdale, Frank Sutherland was a tall utility who added significant height to the St Kilda squad during the early 1950s. Standing at 191cm, he was exceptionally tall for the era, allowing him to operate as a key position player or follower capable of drifting forward to hit the scoreboard. He made his debut in 1950 and managed to boot 10 goals across his brief tenure, showing promise as a marking target. Sutherland’s career coincided with a particularly lean period for the Saints, who finished near the bottom of the ladder throughout his three seasons at the Junction Oval. He played 21 games before departing the VFL scene at the end of 1952.
