A sturdy recruit from VFA club Coburg, Frank Walshe was a solidly built footballer who provided a physical presence for Footscray during the late 1920s. Standing 180cm and weighing 87kg, he possessed the requisite size to compete in key contests, playing 25 games over three seasons at the Western Oval. After establishing himself as a reliable contributor for the Bulldogs, Walshe crossed to Princes Park for the 1932 season. However, he struggled to secure a permanent place in the Carlton lineup, managing only a single senior appearance in the navy blue before his brief VFL career came to a close.
