Bio
Frank Wilcher arrived at Victoria Park via a remarkably scenic route for the Edwardian era, having cut his teeth with Williamstown in the VFA before crossing the Nullarbor to play for South Fremantle. Recruited back to Victoria by the Magpies in 1906, he immediately slotted into the lineup as a robust half-back flanker known for his durability and defensive discipline. While he rarely troubled the scorers—managing just one major in his career—he was a mainstay in the backline, featuring prominently in three finals series during a competitive but ultimately premiership-less window for the club. He left the VFL as a respected, consistent defender and later applied his leadership skills to civic duty, serving as the Mayor of Williamstown in the 1920s.
