Stats
Bio
A diminutive rover recruited from the Ivanhoe Amateurs, Fred Anderson spent three seasons battling for opportunities in the Fitzroy midfield during the early 1950s. Standing just 173cm, he found it difficult to cement a permanent spot in the Lions' senior side, making sporadic appearances across his tenure at Brunswick Street without ever playing more than eight games in a single season. He crossed to Hawthorn in 1954 seeking fresh opportunities but failed to break into the senior lineup at Glenferrie Oval. Anderson ultimately found his footing in the Diamond Valley Football League, where he made an immediate impact by captain-coaching Greensborough to a premiership in 1955.
