Bio
Recruited from Eaglehawk in the Bendigo Football League, Fred Crapper was a strong-marking centre half-back who belonged to a notable regional footballing family, with brothers Harry (Melbourne) and Frank (North Melbourne) also playing at the VFL level. A solid defensive unit who stood 185cm, he spent several seasons pushing for selection at Punt Road, playing 19 games for the reserves between 1935 and 1937. He earned his brief opportunity at the senior level in the early rounds of the 1936 season, debuting against North Melbourne and holding his spot for a clash with Carlton the following week. Unable to cement a permanent place in the Tigers' backline, he eventually departed the club and later served as a serviceman during World War II.
