Bio
Recruited from Burwood after serving his country in World War I, Frederick "Snowy" Finch became a foundational pillar for Hawthorn during their transition from the VFA to the VFL. Distinguished by his fair hair and an impeccable training record, Finch established himself as a reliable centreman who led by example in the club's formative years. He holds a unique place in history as a member of the Mayblooms' inaugural VFL side in 1925, where his consistent performances in the middle earned him the club's Best All-Round Player award—the precursor to the modern Best and Fairest—in that debut season. Though he spent his final playing years in the reserves, Finch's dedication was recognised with life membership in 1928, and he continued to serve the club as an administrator well after hanging up his boots.
