Bio
Recruited from Crib Point on the Mornington Peninsula, Fred Hepner was an exceptionally diminutive rover standing just 163cm who earned a brief opportunity with South Melbourne during the 1960 season. He broke into the senior lineup for three matches, playing as a crumbing small man at the feet of the packs, but struggled to secure a permanent place in the side. Following his short stint at the Lake Oval, Hepner continued his career in the VFA with Frankston before moving to South Australia, where he enjoyed a successful tenure with East Gambier in country football.
