Bio
Recruited from Orbost in Gippsland, Fred Mundy was a fiery utility who made an impression at Geelong with his aggressive, fearless playstyle. Though standing just 180cm, he was often deployed as a ruck-rover or defender, where his tenacity and willingness to contest the ball compensated for his lack of height. He crossed to Punt Road in 1960 for a brief stint with the Tigers, but his VFL journey was prematurely ended the following year when he was compelled to return to the family farm after his father suffered a severe accident. Mundy subsequently carved out a successful tenure in country football, captain-coaching Griffith and Wagga in the Riverina.
