Bio
Arriving at South Melbourne as a highly decorated mature-age recruit, Fred Wimbridge had already established himself as a star of the WAFL with West Perth and Perth. The 32-year-old showcased his reputation for spectacular high marking and goal-kicking ability during his brief VFL tenure, booting 12 goals in just eight appearances in the 1925 season. A versatile big man who could play forward or in the ruck, Wimbridge's time in Victoria was fleeting, as he returned to Western Australia shortly after, leaving fans to wonder how dominant he might have been had he crossed the Nullarbor during his prime.
