Bio
Recruited from Devonport on Tasmania’s north-west coast, Garry Davidson was a versatile key position talent who initially broke into the VFL with Geelong as an 18-year-old. After three seasons at Kardinia Park, he crossed to the VFA with Caulfield, where he flourished as a dominant, strong-marking forward and club captain, eventually winning a Best and Fairest that paved the way for a second crack at the top level with Richmond in 1978. While his playing tenure in the VFL was relatively brief, Davidson cemented a significant legacy off the field; he returned to Tasmania to become one of the state’s most celebrated coaches, steering Glenorchy and North Hobart to premierships, before eventually serving as Geelong’s influential Football Manager during the club's resurgence in the early 2000s.
