Bio
Recruited from Golden Point in the Ballarat Football League, Garry Fenton arrived at Windy Hill with a formidable reputation after claiming the 1962 Henderson Medal. A tall follower and defender standing 191cm, he was highly sought after by several league clubs before committing to Essendon. Despite the hype surrounding his arrival, Fenton found it difficult to break into a strong Bombers lineup during the John Coleman era, managing just six senior games over two seasons. He eventually departed the VFL to return to country football, where he carved out a successful career as a captain-coach with Golden Point, Clunes, and South Australian club Keith.
