Bio
Garry Lester was a forward pocket who broke into the Hawthorn senior side in 1967 after serving a strong apprenticeship in the reserves. Following an industrious 1966 season in the lower grade, he earned his senior debut in Round 6 of 1967 against South Melbourne. Standing 189cm, he offered a tall option in attack and held his place in the side for a 10-game stretch during the middle of the season, booting five goals. Despite demonstrating he could compete at the level, Lester's VFL career was confined to that single season, and he departed the club at the end of the year.
