Stats
Bio
Recruited from Springvale in the VFA, Garry Williams was a tall utility who earned a late opportunity at VFL level with South Melbourne in 1979. Standing 187cm, he possessed the size to play key position roles but struggled to translate his VFA form to the highest level, managing just three games for the Swans in his debut season. He crossed to St Kilda for the 1980 season in search of greater opportunity, yet found himself on the fringe of senior selection at Moorabbin as well. Williams added only two more senior appearances to his tally with the Saints before his VFL career concluded, serving as a depth player who briefly bridged the gap between the reserves and senior football during a transient period for both clubs.
