Stats
Bio
Hailing from the Tasmanian mining town of Rosebery, Gary Arnold was a skillful rover who arrived at Punt Road for the 1963 season. Although he broke into the senior side for nine games in his debut year, he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the Tigers' midfield rotation the following season. His quality was undeniable at the lower level, evidenced by his victory in the 1964 Gardiner Medal count as the VFL reserves' best and fairest player. Unable to translate that dominance into regular senior selection, he departed the VFL to pursue a successful career with Dandenong in the VFA—where he finished fourth in the Liston Trophy—and later Claremont in the WAFL.
