Stats
Bio
Recruited from Avondale Heights, Gary Barrow was a medium-sized utility who had to work hard for his opportunities at the elite level. His AFL journey began with Essendon, where he spent time on the list without breaking through for a senior debut, eventually finding a second home at the Western Oval after being selected by Footscray in the 1991 National Draft. Standing 183cm, Barrow was a depth player capable of filling holes in the forward half, notably booting his solitary career goal in a long-range effort from the 50-metre arc. His tenure with the Bulldogs was precarious; he was delisted after his first season but immediately handed a lifeline when the club redrafted him weeks later, allowing him to add four more games to his tally in 1993. Despite his persistence in breaking into a competitive Bulldogs lineup, Barrow was unable to cement a regular spot and finished his major league career to join Williamstown in the VFA.
